In the first of this four part series, learn how 3D cinematographers trick our brains into seeing depth on a flat screen and see projection technology from the 1950s "Golden Era" of 3D in action. (Parts 2 through 4 below.)

PART TWO
The spread of digital cinema technology has fueled the explosion of 3D movie making over the last few years. The versatility of digital gives even small theater owners the flexibility to project movies in 3D, so Hollywood can count on widespread distribution of its 3D products. In Part II of our 3D Cinema series, learn how today's most popular 3D cinema projection systems work.

PART THREE
Do 3D movies make you queasy?
This summer promises more 3D blockbusters, but not everyone will experience the 3D effects the same way. In Part 3 of our 3D Cinema series, learn why some people may find 3D movie viewing a little uncomfortable and others may actually never see in 3D at all!

PART FOUR
From enormous beamsplitter rigs to compact video cameras, digital 3D capture technology is rapidly evolving and giving 3D cinematographers a variety of options.

In the final episode of this four-part 3D Cinema series, learn about the latest tools available and discover the simple secret to making the most of the technology.

The Navy and Northrop Grumman completed at-sea testing of the Maritime Laser Demonstrator (MLD), which validated the potential to provide advanced self-defense for surface ships and personnel by keeping small boat threats at a safe distance. (Watch MLD fire on YouTube.)

"The success of this high-energy laser test is a credit to the collaboration, cooperation and teaming of naval labs at Dahlgren, China Lake, Port Hueneme and Point Mugu, Calif.," said Chief of Naval Research Rear Adm. Mark discusses the advent of NFC (near-field communications) and the hope that Apple's iPhone 5 will feature this cutting-edge technology that offers consumers to be able to use their phone as a payment provider, secure entry-pass, and be able to carry your own data and content. Howard says it's been difficult to do the payment process on Android and was not surprised that it embraced NFC first. Howard echoes some of the predictions that the mobile phone will eventually replace your wallet as a means for making payments instantly. Mark says that marketers are missing the boat if they are not already brainstorming ideas on how to integrate AR into their business plans. People are getting what they need much faster and you have to be serving the relevant content as quickly as possible. Mark also predicts that in 2012 Google will be implementing its version of AR and how search marketers can use it to promote local content.

SAN ANTONIO -- Minutes matter when you're having a heart attack. Now, local ambulances will be using new technology to transmit real-time heart readings directly to the hospital, saving precious time.

When you are having a heart attack, fast treatment can mean the difference between life and death. No matter what hospital you're headed to in South Texas, EMS technicians will be sending real-time electrocardiograms (EKGs) to the doctor. The teams on the other end will know what you need before you ever hit the door.

"So this new technology that we're employing will allow those teams and physicians to be able to identify what the problem is and be prepared before that patient even arrives at the hospital," Dr. Craig Manifold, EMS medical director, said.

For instance, an interventional cardiologist at the hospital in New Braunfels can look at his smart phone and see the tracings of an incoming patient on the ambulance. He can mobilize his cath lab team in advance so that personnel and technology will be ready as soon as the patient arrives.

"So the quicker you can get the patient from wherever they are, from their home, their work, into the cath lab, and get that artery open, then you're going to preserve that heart muscle and that's what's critical," explained interventional cardiologist Dr. Charles Bailey.

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital downtown was the first hospital to have LifeNet in place, but eventually, 13 regional hospitals will employ this new technology.

"Time is muscle," Bailey said.

Methodist Healthcare Ministries is the primary funding source for LifeNet. It's a collaborative effort between all of the health care systems in South Texas. [endtext] Bookmark and Share

• Entirely new technology package, unique and powerful functional design language
• Innovative carbon-fiber monocoque
• New twelve-cylinder engine with 515 kW / 700 hp
• Super-fast shifting ISR (Independent Shifting Rods) transmission
• Pushrod suspension
• The very finest equipment and trim, extensive individualization

With the Aventador LP 700-4, Automobili Lamborghini is redefining the very pinnacle of the world super sports car market - brutal power, outstanding lightweight engineering and phenomenal handling precision are combined with peerless design and the very finest equipment to deliver an unparalleled driving experience. With the Aventador, Lamborghini is taking a big step into the future - and building on the glorious history of the brand with the next automotive legend. The first customers will take delivery of the new Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 in late summer 2011.

The technology package of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 is utterly unique. It is based on an innovative monocoque made from carbon-fiber that combines exceptional lightweight engineering with the highest levels of stiffness and safety. The new twelve-cylinder with 6.5 liters' displacement and 515 kW / 700 hp brings together the ultimate in high-revving pleasure with astonishing low-end torque. Thanks to a dry weight of only 1,575 kilograms (3,472 lb), which is extremely low for this class of vehicle, the weight-to-power ratio stands at only 2.25 kilograms per hp (4.96 lb/hp). Even the fantastic 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration figure of just 2.9 seconds and the top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph) do not fully describe the Aventador's extreme performance. And yet, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are down by around 20 percent compared with its predecessor, despite the considerable increase in power (+8%).

The ISR transmission is unique among road-going vehicles, guaranteeing the fastest shifting time (only 50 milliseconds) and a highly emotional shift feel, while the lightweight chassis with pushrod suspension delivers absolute handling precision and competition-level performance. The expressively-designed interior offers hi-tech features ranging from the TFT cockpit display with Drive Select Mode system. The Aventador will be built to the very highest quality standards in an all-new production facility in Sant'Agata Bolognese. [endtext] Bookmark and Share
