Artificial leadership? Its origins may well be in the fish tanks and the algorithms in Maurizio Porfiri’s Brooklyn laboratories at Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU-Poly). Here the assistant professor of mechanical engineering, best known for modeling advanced smart materials, is using those materials, plus a lot of mathematics and his love for animals and science fiction, to build robots that lead schooling fish.http://www.poly.edu/press-release/2010/05/26/follow-robotic-leader [endtext] Bookmark and Share

Robot Fish Leads School.....really!

[postlink]https://radical-technology.blogspot.com/2010/06/simply-amazing-robot-dog.html[/postlink]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJDF8-saYg0endofvid [starttext] From deep within the Computational Learning and Motor Control Lab, Stefan Schaal is experimenting with mechanical quadruped software. This little robot doggie clearly fulfills the goal of the Learning Locomotion Project which was to use machine learning techniques to create autonomous control software for a robot quadruped such that it can traverse unknown rugged and complex terrains. And it does so with grace and agility! http://www-clmc.usc.edu/[endtext]
